Spirituality or Delusion? Neptune in Aires
March 30, 2025 - March 23, 2039

(Neptune briefly revisits Pisces October 22, 2025 - January 26, 2026)

Neptune is the planet of spirituality, but technically of all that is unseen and intangible and thus also rules the unknowable, delusion, ignorance, etc., and Neptune influences are equally capable of illuminating spirituality or entrenching elusion and ignorance depending on the degree of our own submission to life and its laws and limitations. Delusion is a coping mechanism we use to avoid things which make us uncomfortable, afraid, or feel like we have no control, while spirituality comes when we instead admit we have no control and work with life and fate rather than against it. As discussed in God is a Libra, anything which is spiritual subverts the ego, while delusion feeds the ego, and this makes it very easy to evaluate whether we are being delusional or not by admitting whether our fear and ego are invested into an outcome or whether we accept the conditions of life whatever they may be. It is often difficult to understand whether Neptune transits have been spiritual or delusional until after they have passed, but that does not mean we can’t do our best in the meantime. Most of all, service to others is one of the most integral aspects of spirituality, because it directly subverts the go, and all Neptune transits can be more pleasant and productive if we help others without concern for our own benefit. Below is a brief description of how Neptune’s transit through Aries specifically affects each Sun sign.

Aries

Neptune in Aires means it is in your Zodiac first house, which rules the self, so themes of identity and purpose will be subject either to delusion or deep spiritual experiences. It is often difficult to understand which it is while we are in it, but as a naturally egoist sign you can be sure any friction or conflict surrounding your life purpose and sense of self is a product of delusion and self-centeredness, not spirituality, but which may also lead you to spirituality if you are willing and make efforts to understand the humanity and motivations of both yourself and others. First house transits can often be difficult, but in a more existential function, and may challenge things you long thought stable, reliable, or take for granted. Any changes which take place are meant to help you find your best path and to understand the depths of reality, so trust that life has your best interests in mind and go with the flow. Pisces just went through this transit from 2011, so ask them for some insight if you know any Pisces.

Taurus

Transits of the twelfth Zodiac house bring conclusions and endings, and the twelfth house is also the natural house of spirituality (and delusion, illusion, secrets, etc.), so this transit is meant to bring down your delusional expectations that we know everything and that nothing ever changes. This transit is most difficult for people who are tightly wed to what they think is spirituality, because the problem is that we do not define life or spirituality, and it is our job to learn instead what it really is. Endings are also never really endings but merely a transition to the next thing, and life may ask you to let some things go so you can grow and mature beyond childish, selfish, fantasy coping mechanisms, and this transit will be a lot easier if you take yourself less seriously and devote more of your energy to being helpful. Aries just had this transit since 2011, so ask one for some insight.

Gemini

Neptune is transiting your eleventh Zodiac house of friends and fortune, and while this is not a difficult influence there is no greater potential for disappointment than fake friends or losing our material comforts, and those outcomes are more likely depending on the severity of our delusion and self-centeredness. Realizing we have surrounded ourselves with yes-men and enablers can be demoralizing, but it is also empowering, and true friends and stability does not come from outside ourselves, but inside, as we learn what really matters in life and stop thinking about ourselves so much to instead care for others. If you are uncompromisingly self-honest, refrain from control and manipulation, and consider the needs of others more than what they can do for you it is possible to cultivate a spiritual fortune vaster than anything this material world can provide. Taurus just went through this transit, so ask them about it.

Cancer

Neptune’s transit through the tenth Zodiac house is difficult by itself, but you also have Pluto transiting your eighth house of power and control, so refusing to give up control behaviors can and will directly lead to painful losses in your public image if you are not careful to give them up. The problem with this influence is that you will likely deny it completely, because of the delusional side of Neptune. We do this because we wish to have control over our life’s direction, and while we can show up for opportunity and do our best we can never actually control outcomes or fate, so not only will this behavior be ineffective it will also be futile and exhausting as you waste energy trying to control things you cannot. While this challenge may seem demoralizing there is immense potential to achieve powerfully deep experiences and profound insight into the workings of life and the Universe if instead you give up control and turn it over to those forces which govern it, and because service is a quality of Neptune transits which facilitates spirituality, orienting your life toward helping others without concern for what you get out of it can help a great deal. Geminis just went through this transit, so you can look at their lives for a preview of what lies ahead for you—Notice all the deluded, self-centered ones now seeing the consequences of those actions as former friends and allies abandon them and their reputation is in ruins. That is all not only avoidable, requiring nothing more than letting go of control, but can bring immense rewards of a personal, immaterial nature.

Leo

Neptune is going through your ninth Zodiac house of philosophy, Leo, which is not an especially difficult transit but it can lead you down unproductive life paths that later lead to serious self-destruction, because who we are and what we do is built on the foundation of what we believe. Neptune not only rules the spiritual and delusional but also the unknown, and every Neptune transit has an aspect of ignorance and naivety which underlies our behavior, being too uninformed to make effective decisions. To surmount this challenge it is very useful to study and learn and be open to new ideas and viewpoints, but not to make permanent decisions about their usefulness until you are sure that they are of real benefit to your future and your wellbeing. The problem is that we can often be delusional too about what our best interests are, and a clue to answering that question is whether it cultivates the ego or subverts it—if it is the former and your philosophy and worldview is primarily concerned with yourself you are likely headed in the wrong direction, and if instead it requires you to grow, shed control behaviors, subvert the ego, and help others then it is probably better for you. Cancers just went through this transit (and you will go through theirs starting 2039), but they are probably having a hard time so it might be a good idea to just observe their life from a distance rather than ask them about it.

Virgo

The transit of Neptune through the eighth Zodiac house does not need to be difficult, Virgo, but for most people it likely will as we refuse to let go of our delusions. Because the eighth house is that of power and control, Neptune’s transit here is to delude us as to where we can have control and power. The answer to this question is that we really only ever have control our power over our own choices and behaviors (not even our feelings are within our control!), so many attempts will be made to control things in which we are really just wasting our time and efforts. Very often this influence specifically covers shared resources such as spousal income and taxes, and this transit may tempt us to pretend we don’t have obligations or we have more resources through others than we really do. In all transits which can encompass money and finances it’s important to remember that money is not real, but relationships are, and it is never our job to control others or force fate to bend to our will, and letting the Universe take care of those things (not by ignoring them, mind you, which is itself a control behavior) can liberate you from much frustration during this transit. Because the eighth house can be transformative, if you are open minded, humble, helpful, and selfless during this transit you have potential to derive great insight into the deeper workings of the Universe during this time, if you are open to it. Just ask any Leo, who had this transit since 2011, especially those who seem to get it.

Libra

While transits through the seventh house are often difficult this one absolutely does not need to be. Many relationships are a contest between people, but when we recognize the otherness of our partners (romantic, business, etc.), even when they disappoint us we can empathize with their reasons for doing so, which are always the same as ours, wanting to be secure, loved, and safe, people often make selfish decisions and stupid mistakes searching for those things, and we are all human and deserve compassion and patience, including to yourself. Tensions in relationships usually occur because we do not give ourselves patience, compassion, and care, and instead expect others to do it for us, but if others cannot also do that for themselves they also cannot do that for us either, and isn’t that also hypocritical? Expecting others to treat you in a way that you do not even do for yourself? Many delusions about relationships will be sorely revealed during this transit depending on the degree of delusion we have toward our partnerships, and accepting the fact that we and others are mortal and limited in our ability to control life and fate can instead lead to satisfying evolution to spirituality with others and ourselves and the dependent nature we have on other human beings, being one ourselves. In relationships we also usually tend to think about ourselves and what we need, but in partnerships we must also be concerned about the needs of others, and doing that without neglecting our own can also produce more lovely experiences during this time than if we remain selfishly fixated (which is also a delusional control mechanism anyway).

Scorpio

Neptune is going through your Zodiac six house, Scorpio, which governs our daily labors, meaning all the things we are obligated to do each day which include eating regularly, going to bed on time, doing work, taking care of our pets, cleaning the house, and generally all self-care responsibilities. During this transit it is very common to have mysterious and unexplained health problems, since Neptune also rules the unknown and the unseen, and during this transit I did not discover that cystic fibrosis was the underlying cause of all my health problems until nine years into the transit. This does not mean you should be hypochondriac, but if you do feel something is wrong something probably is, and the solution lies not in discovering what’s wrong, although that can help, but in taking care of your body every day, having a healthy diet, and compassion for your mortal limitations. During this time work is also often frustrating or limiting if it is not oriented toward service to others, so if you feel unfulfilled and frustrated go back to basics and orient your life in ways that actively help everyone, not only yourself, and you will find immense rewards. Unfortunately this influence does carry with it some risk of death if we are especially delusional or afraid and ignore serious health problems, but if you’re reading this on my site the odds are likely you’re not that bad off, and just need to establish a consistent routine of self-care, good diet, and self-compassion, and such severe consequences only occur if we chose to ignore our wellbeing or control health and biology.

Sagittarius

The fifth zodiac house transit of Neptune can leave you mystified and frustrated when it comes to pursuing creative endeavors such as writing, art, building, filmmaking, but also all acts of creation such as love and sex, babies, or creating projects and organizations. Meeting new potential love interests who turn out to be disappointing or abusive is a common occurrence in this transit, because new erotic partners is the creation of love and partnership but we may delude ourselves as to whether we really want that person or are just settling or ignoring red flags for the sake of simply having them. Remembering the key to avoiding difficult Neptune transits is to get rid of all delusion, which incudes also our underestimation of ourselves and our own capabilities, for instance believing our success relies on being discovered or helped by more powerful, connected people, rather than working from the ground up in the proper order to accomplish creation. Romantic delusions are also usually a consequence of disliking ourselves and seeking validation in others, rather than simply companionship, so resolving unresolved trauma, the most powerful self-care behavior, can help bring enlightenment and insight to make this an easier transit. Thinking less about what we want and more how we can be of service will also make this transit more productive. Scorpio just went through this transit from 2011, so talk to them about their experience.

Capricorn

Neptune transiting the fourth house is one of the more difficult Neptune transits, because family are at the same time both so integral to our existence yet other people with their own unique personalities, desires, fears, and insecurities. Making matters worse this transit also concerns the literal place of domicile, so factors like landlords, neighbors, plumbing and electrical, and size can be major problems which frustrate and confound problems handling family. It is important to remember that this influence maintains a high risk of delusional behavior, in which we see problems that do not actually exist, or think they are bigger than they really are, or also ignore or avoid real problems we should address, or believe that our actions will not also have consequences. In order to avoid delusional behavior we must instead actively seek spiritual solutions—finding compassion for others, for ourselves, patience, kindness, love, and understanding. This does not mean putting up with harmful behavior by others—it means handling it in ways which are responsible, kind, and compassionate and maintaining healthy boundaries, not just boundaries. Sagittarius just went through this transit since 2011, so you can learn a lot from their experience.

Aquarius

While Neptune’s transit through the third house is not significantly perilous in the short term, it sets the stage for many future phases of your life in which knowledge is required to be effective in your own life. Neptune being the planet of both spirituality and delusion can mean if you handle this transit with the latter you will be ill prepared to meet the future and have worse experiences in the upcoming harder transits. Insecurity often motivates delusional behavior, and all humans must learn during the entirety of our lifetimes to acquire the skills we need to effectively navigate life, and it’s perfectly fine not to know something and to learn from others. Pay attention, don’t ignore learning experiences, listen to many different points of view and test out the information you learn. Capricorn just went through this transit and many of them ended up suffering from having their head in the sand too long, so look to their experience for more insight.

Pisces

The second house transit of Neptune is only stressful if you believe money and success to be of supreme importance. As a naturally spiritual sign you may already know that money isn’t real, and as such might have an easier time with this transit. But we can also be delusional in thinking that because money is real we do not need it, which is not explicitly true since we live in a society in which the contract of money is required to participate effectively, and delusional thinking can go both ways. Understanding whether it is spiritual or delusional is whether our positions and behavior serve fear, insecurity, and the ego, or if it instead helps us serve others and accept the conditions of life and mortality. Every person who’s ever stolen from me had Neptune transiting their second house, because delusional ideas and behavior both thought they weren’t going to be okay financially (just ask for help!) and that there weren’t going to be consequences from stealing which, in my case, was limited only to hurting me and losing my respect and admiration, but not everyone will be so lucky as theft can come with very serious consequences. Stay grounded, practice introspection, and don’t act on fear and this transit will be very pleasant as you discover more things of value in this life than money. Aquarius went through this transit before you, so ask them for some insight or look at their experiences.
