Structure and Discipline—Saturn in Aries
May 24, 2025 - April 12, 2028

(Saturn retrogrades out of Aries between September 1, 2025 - February 13, 2026)

Saturn is the planet of discipline, order, and structure, and as such its transits demand that we find and practice those themes in each of its transits. Saturn is often denigrated as a planet of stress and tribulation, but in fact Saturn is only trying to help us achieve what is best for our wellbeing, and at the end of every Zodiac transit Saturn imparts a gift as a reward for our hard work—for instance at the end of a second house transit Saturn might give us a better paying job, or at the end of a seventh house transit a stable relationship. Saturn is quite magnanimous if we listen to its lessons but quite unyielding if we refuse, because order is one of the primary laws of the Universe and as such must be obeyed.

Aries

In addition to Neptune, Saturn is also transiting your first house, so this will be a more trying time than usual and will require you to approach your sense of self, identity, and purpose with some structure and discipline, not simply winging it or going with the flow. This could be such behaviors as regular inventory practice, or making sure to show up for obligations, as well as stabilizing your life and defining your goals and aspirations. Often during first-house transits we freak out and overcorrect, moving from a place of insecurity plan out grandiose, unrealistic, or outright delusional plans and dreams. There is nothing wrong with dreaming, but Saturn demands structure, which in turn requires groundedness, so the more this transit can be informed by introspection, reflection, and resolution of trauma and coping behaviors the more effective it will be, and in about three years time Saturn will give you the gift of a more secure and grounded sense of self which will empower you into its second-house transit (which can otherwise be quite perilous since the second house handles means and money). Pisces had this transit previous to yourself, so if you know any you can ask them about it or observe its effects on their life during that time as well as its consequences in the upcoming second house transit.

Taurus

Like all signs, Saturn is joining Neptune in your Zodiac twelfth house transit, and Saturn can help bring some clarity to the illusory nature of Neptune if you are paying attention and doing your best. The twelfth house concerns spirituality, which is inherently in conflict with structure, so any delusional or self-centered behavior motivated by the presence of Neptune will result in even more demoralization because of the presence of Saturn. Spirituality is fundamentally about the subversion of the ego, so practicing structure and discipline in terms of service and selflessness such as regularly showing up for others and taking regular time to reflect, meditate, walk in nature, or other solitary time can be very useful, and at the end of this transit in 2028 Saturn will move into your first house to being a journey of self-reformation informed by the gift of spirituality it will leave behind. Aries just went through this transit before you, so ask them about their experience if you know any.

Gemini

Saturn being the planet of structure and discipline means its transit through your Zodiac eleventh house of friends and fortune means structure and discipline will be required to maintain friendships and sustain your material successes. The problem is that Neptune at this time will you confuse you about how and whom theses efforts should be directed, and some disappointment is likely on the way as you find out the answers to that dilemma. That’s okay, though, because Saturn always leaves behind a gift if we are paying attention and doing our best, so just show up for opportunity and try to maintain structure and discipline in your friendships, associations, and wealth. Taurus had this transit before you, so look to to their experience from the last three years for some insight.

Cancer

Saturn is the natural ruler of the zodiac tenth house, so its position here is logical and rational, and helps us achieve structure and discipline in terms of our place in society which often includes things like our career status and public image. But this transit is one of the four most difficult (the others being the first, fourth, and seventh houses), but which will only be difficult to the degree that we resist this influence. Because Neptune is also transiting this house, that is far more likely for you unless great effort is made to subvert the ego, pay attention, and be of service (it’s not actually that difficult, though, depending on how much of your ego you can let go). This may mean things like being reliable at work, helping to erect solutions to societal problems, and generally exercising structure and discipline in terms of your outward, public, material life. With Pluto in your eighth house you will truly continue having a rough time for a while, Cancer, but Gemini just got through it, Leos are just starting that journey, and you can do it! Saturn is the planet of perseverance, and while simply getting to the end can be a reward in and of itself Saturn specifically leaves a gift at the end, which could be greater public respect and effectiveness, a new job, position, etc., so long as your behavior is not delusional as what is currently affected by Neptune.

Leo

Saturn is not the natural ruler of the ninth house, but it helps greatly since the ninth house encompasses philosophical knowledge. But because Neptune is also currently in this house you may be deluded or confused (or just completely ignorant to) about what knowledge and philosophy you should be learning and incorporating. But Saturn’s influence is strictly about structure and discipline, so this can be things like doing inventory practice, traveling and interacting with new people or unfamiliar groups, or literally getting a higher education. Whatever it is you need to be doing during this transit requires discipline, so having a regular schedule, reliable behaviors, and being an active participant in solutions and not simply waiting for things to happen to you is how this is resolved. While that might seem overwhelming that is probably only because you don’t believe in yourself, and you don’t believe in yourself because you lack accomplishments, and accomplishments are achieved simply by doing, so sit down and get to work and this transit can open your mind to the vastness of reality. Cancers just went through this transit for the last three years, and you can observe which had discipline and structure and which did not by which are now struggling in the tenth house transit which is directly informed by our personal philosophy and worldview.

Virgo

While it is true that we control very little in life, we do have control over some few things—mostly our own personal choices and behavior, and since the eighth house rules all power and control dynamics, Saturns presence here will demand participation in power dynamics such as with taxes, government, politics, shared finances with a partner (in love or business), and even sex and sexual behaviors since sex is also a power dynamic. Even when control influences are directed at you, always refrain from doing the same in turn because the challenge of this transit is not to assert control and power but to establish structure and discipline within those dynamics, for instance paying off debts instead of trying to avoid or get out of them, persisting through a dysfunctional professional relationship without becoming a monster, or regularly engaging in healthy sexual encounters without using sex as a control behavior. Because Saturn departs transits with a gift, the end of this transit will bring not power over what you want, but power through ways in which we are limited to it, and thus being a more effective person knowing where and to what we actually control. Leos just went through this transit, so take a look at their lives over the last three years for some insight.

Libra

Relationships require structure—we cannot just sit around entertaining our own needs and desires if we want to have relationships, and so instead must put forth effort and input for them to grow and succeed. But part of the function of participating effectively in a relationship (whether it is romantic or plutonic) is proving to others that we are reliable, then they understand that they too can also risk their time and happiness in doing the same. In many dysfunctional relationships everyone expects the other person to change, because we fear giving up control to someone who in turn has the power to hurt us. But why in the world would you want to hurt someone you care about by refusing to change? In truth that behavior is the antithesis of love and companionship, and shouldn’t we want those we love to be happy and feel safe? This transit of Saturn through your Zodiac seventh house will demand structure, discipline, and dependency in relationships, and if we refuse to comply the result can be the destruction of those relationships (or simply failing to start) when others become disillusioned with our unreliable behavior. The rewards of this transit when it ends is literally someone to love you, to be there for you, or a reliable partner in business. However, because of Neptune’s influence also in this house we can end up having this dynamic with people who are duplicitous, false, or otherwise unreliable in turn, the danger of which is in proportion to the degree of our delusion and how well we are able to subvert our own ego and desire to have what we want. Practicing inventory and service to others with a large dose of compassion for them and ourselves (for instance because duplicitous people are just fearful and lacking effective life skills), as well as the discipline required of Saturn, can likely result in a better outcome during this time. At the very least, you will simply be able to endure the rollercoaster with a sense of levity and compassion. Virgos just went through this transit, so ask them for some help if needed.

Scorpio

The sixth house is our daily labors, traditionally categorized as work and health (which also encompases pets!) because in reality this transit deals with everything that we are obligated to do on about a daily basis, and that includes eating regularly, sleeping regularly, showing up for work, exercising the dog, etc. Failing to have structure in terms of our self-care and other obligations can and does result in tremendous consequences, so while this is not one of the typically most stressful transits it can be this time because of the simultaneous influence of Neptune which can delude or obfuscate what it is we need to be doing. In this house, the answer is always something you are doing or not doing every day, which can look like missing of specific foods or nutrients from the daily diet, not getting enough daily sunshine, eating too infrequently, exercising too much, or neglecting work (or pets!). The problem is that we desire to control our bodies, biology, and fate, including being able to take such things for granted, but we cannot do that and are instead bound by immutable laws of cause and consequence, so having regular structure and discipline in terms of daily labors as Saturn will demand can help us then achieve stability in terms of health, work, pets, etc. Remember that while Saturn is a serious planet much of our problems come from taking ourselves too seriously, and these transits are not in fact that difficult which only arises mostly from our obstinate refusal to let go of control. Libras just went through this influence, so observe their experience or ask them for some insight.

Sagittarius

Saturn now transiting your Zodiac fifth house of creation does not naturally synergize with creation, but it can help us to achieve practices and behavior which bring structure and discipline to the creative process. This often, however, means that it can be difficult to produce art, children, projects, systems, or love affairs without structural support and effectiveness, and because Neptune is also currently transiting this house it can be confusing where to even start or what to do about these problems. This is all okay, take a deep breath and just enjoy the process and do your best, try to be consistent and realistic, and at the end of this transit you may find yourself finally being able to create and build as you have dreamed, although Neptune will likely mute this gift a little. Scorpios just went through this transit and some ended up with thrilling love affairs or interesting creative projects, so ask them about it if you want some insight.

Capricorn

Saturn transiting your Zodiac fourth house of home and family will demand structure and discipline in your home such as regular cleaning, maintenance, repairs, but also your relationship with your family members in regular communication, engagement, support, etc. Because Neptune is currently also transiting this house for you it may be unclear exactly what you need to do, but remember that the positive nature of Neptune is service to others while the delusional nature is self-centered, so your efforts to engage with and support your family and home should be concerned with their wellbeing in preference to yours, but without also neglecting your own needs. Reliability and structure can help create a harmonious and stable home and family life, but rather than making others do this we should lead by example and be the rock on which that foundation is built. Sagittarius just went through this transit, so look to their recent experience and insight for some help.

Aquarius

The third house specifically deals with the acquisition, implementation, and distribution of knowledge (but also siblings), which is often described as communication, a succinct word for that dynamic. Many times astrologers are confused about this concept and this house’s influence, promising book deals and other egoist ideas of communication, but in reality this house encompasses our need for knowledge in order to be effective in our own lives, and then sharing that information so that others can then also benefit. During third house transits we are often resistant to the need for knowledge, and will refuse opportunities to learn only to later suffer from that willful ignorance and not even knowing or recognizing that connection because that would also be knowledge, and there are many Capricorns currently suffering due to the willful avoidance of learning and integrating knowledge into our lives, as well as from frustrations with siblings and childhood friends. During this transit, which demands structure and discipline, there will be opportunities to learn and grow intellectually which must be taken if you want to avoid future problems which arise from ignorance.

Pisces

Saturn’s transit through your second Zodiac house, Pisces, will require structure and discipline to maintain your income and other resources. This can be an especially stressful transit in the beginning when we run up against financial stress, but the problem is that Neptune is also transiting here and can obfuscate and delude you about money issues, even to the point of doing things that are illegal or immoral. Just remember that money isn’t real, but its effects on our lives is, and that having structure and discipline in the management of money and our job and income is required for stability and success, and at the end Saturn will give you something like a new job or higher salary. Aquarius just went through this transit, which was also accompanied by Neptune, so look at the recent lives of Aquarians for some insight.
