The Cure For Migraines

Unlike many who get migraines mine occurred only infrequently, on average about once a month. But when they did happen it was usually so intense that an entire day or more would be lost just sitting on my couch, being unable even to lay down which would only worsen my suffering, with all light and sound extinguished just wishing for the pressure and nausea to go away. Eventually my migraine would disappear and then I could go back to my normal routine, but like many people was completely ignorant to why it was happening and what I could do to prevent it since modern medicine still has no idea what causes migraines even though we can smash subatomic particles in particle accelerators and are on the doorstep of supercomputing. I did notice that withdrawal from caffeine often triggered a migraine, and for many years thought this meant caffeine might not be healthy, and so I would sometimes try to abstain from caffeine but the resulting migraine from withdrawal made that effort seemingly futile, and abstaining from caffeine also did not stop migraines from happening at all, and I often felt better on caffeine anyway, and so would just resume my regular intake of coffee and tea with enthusiasm.

Several years ago my research into my health problems branched into microorganisms, starting with bacteria like H. pylori, C. difficile, and P. gingivalis, but this naturally led into research on parasites after realizing that most bacterial infections are secondary to parasitism, as parasites don’t often directly cause obvious disease (well, it is obvious such as in the case of gut distension but often dismissed as other causes such as not dieting and exercising). But parasites also very strongly inhibit the immune reaction as part of their evolutionary strategy and in doing so enable secondary opportunistic microbes like H. pylori or P. gingivalis to colonize mucosal tissue. The primary mechanism by which parasites facilitate their colonization of our tissues is through the production of ammonia, which is actually toxic to our bodies because ammonia is structurally almost identical to water (especially acidified water, called hydronium, which is important to biological function) and competes with water uptake in aquaporin channels. Many microbes like yeasts, H. pylori, and parasites produce ammonia because they thrive in a more alkaline pH than what our body has normally (typically acidic to neutral pH depending on the area). Because I had long studied ammonia as an underlying mechanism in most metabolic disease, it then became clear that microbial ammonia production, especially from parasites which also inhibit the immune system, was more widespread and consequential to human health due to chronic parasitism and thus the primary reason for widespread metabolic disease which occurs in industrialized nations, as an industrialized food system lacks nutritional factors like tannins and other polyphenols that normally help protect us from parasitism.

To make a long story short (which is discussed in my book, Fuck Portion Control, which you must actually read to fully understand and arrest migraines as this article merely outlines the primary factors), my research began leading me to the effects of ammonia on the function of mitochondria and the discovery that dietary silicon was necessary for normal function of the mitochondrial electron transport chain and functioned by insulating mitochondria against electron leakage. The mitochondrial electron transport chain functions by channeling electrons from food (mostly from carbohydrate, which is first converted to pyruvate in the citric acid cycle) through a sequence of five different proteins which draw protons (hydrogen) into the transport chain to power the synthesis of ATP which is the end product of mitochondrial respiration and our primary energy molecule that is then consumed in ATP-dependent pathways to power life and make us well. This is one reason why dieting harms our health and why dieting is so stressful, because without carbohydrate our body cannot easily make ATP to actually run our biology (oxidation of carbohydrate is the most efficient ATP production pathway), and stress hormones rise to catabolize tissue into useable sugar and amino acids to keep us from dying, but the reduction in ATP production from deficient intake of carbohydrate and calories in turn impairs other biological systems by reducing the amount of available ATP necessary to keep us healthy and happy. But for silicon to be incorporated into mitochondria it must be acidified into silicic acid, and since ammonia is highly alkaline the rise in ammonia neutralizes silicic acid to thus deprive us of silicon required for our health (which is why a supplement of silicon is not useful, since it is only bioavailable when acidified into silicic acid).

Because silicon is a semiconductor, it directs electron movement in a single direction (rather than omnidirectionally), which is also the reason that silicon is used in the manufacture of computer chips and solar panels, and when mitochondria lack silicon they then leak electrons into the surrounding cells which not only stops ATP production but causes massive inflammation as free electrons then spontaneously reduce other molecules and cellular structures, and the drop in ATP interrupts the normal transport of water and electrolytes which then causes inflammation (inflammation is the ingress of water into tissues). During this research I realized this phenomenon was the cause of the Warburg Effect, which is a primary debility which underlies most cancer, and that I had inadvertently found the primary cause and cure to cancer as discussed in my article I Solved the Warburg Effect, which has eluded researchers for 100 years due to the widespread bias fallacy of believing most metabolic disease to be rooted in DNA and heredity rather than interference of biological pathways by opportunistic microorganisms (by the way, the reason there are no citations in this article is that most of this science is the result of my own academic research and so is not expressly supported by established science). One day toward the end of that research I had a particularly painful migraine come on, and was just sitting on my couch, in the dark, with nothing to do but endure my suffering and meditate on my research, and suddenly realized that the Warburg Effect was also the underlying mechanism which caused migraines, due to its disruption on the normal transport of electrolytes and water. Having intuited a strategy to reverse the loss of mitochondrial silicon which must be acidified to be made bioavailable for the body I went to my counter and mixed up a large dose of supplemental silicon (derived from bamboo) in strong citric acid solution (about as strong as lemon juice) and drank it, followed by some sugar in the form of fruit and a slice of cake with buttercream frosting, and to my utter joy my migraine almost immediately began abating and was completely gone within about 45 minutes, and I was back on my computer doing work and listening to music as if it had never happened, not even any residual nausea or aching.

In that moment I knew for sure that I had solved the Warburg Effect and that it was not only a primary factor in cancer but also migraine and general metabolic disease. But the problem is that while the supplementation of acidified silicon followed by sugar (to stimulate production of ATP after repletion of mitochondria with silicon) helps to restore mitochondrial silicon and production of ATP, it does not address the problem of microbial ammonia production and the dysregulation of ammonia metabolism by opportunistic microbes. So migraines can each be treated by using a dose of acidified silicon by mixing a supplement of silicon (about 300-500 mg should be enough) with a strong dietary acid like lemon juice, vinegar, or citric acid in water (about 1/2 cup of lemon juice or its equivalent) followed by consumption of sugar (without sugar there will be no ATP production which is required to actually resolve the inflammation), but migraines will continue to occur without also resolving colonization by opportunistic parasites, bacteria, and yeasts which cause the excess production of ammonia and disrupt normal ammonia metabolism as described in my book, Fuck Portion Control (the eBook is donation based so there is not a paywall to this information, you just have to do some reading OMG I know that’s so hard but imagine the work I’ve had to do to get this information to you). This is also why light makes migraines worse, by the way, because the mitochondrial electron transport chain is sensitive to light and exposure to light when mitochondria are deficient in silicon causes more electron leakage to then worsen the inflammation.

Primarily microbes use water as a cofactor in the enzymes which produce ammonia from dietary protein (specifically the amino acid arginine), and it is the combination of beverages like water and sodas which lack protective tannins and polyphenols with dietary protein such as is so common in industrial food systems (drinking soda with meals) which enables them to produce ammonia, and drinking tea or other high tannin, polyphenol beverage (children can have undiluted fruit juices) or drinking water inbetween meals and not with protein, can greatly help to mitigate ammonia production which neutralizes dietary silicic acid. Most foods, even meat, contain lots of silicon (spinach, green beans, and dates are especially high), so the problem is not lacking dietary silicon but instead the disruption of digestion and the commensal microbiome which normally acidify nutrients like dietary silicon. So primarily the resolution of migraines is cessation of dieting behaviors and restoration of a healthy, normal commensal microbiome along with the consumption of high silicon foods. As this process is quite complex it again requires far more information than what is contained in this article, adopting a diet and dietary behaviors as outlined in Fuck Portion Control, otherwise migraines will continue as long as we are colonized by opportunistic microbes which destabilize normal ammonia metabolism.

Migraine recovery can also be hastened by also using an aspirin, which actually helps acidify mitochondria which thus helps preserve mitochondrial silicon, but not other NSAIDs like ibuprofen or paracetamol/acetaminophen (which help by reducing inflammation but they actually impair mitochondrial respiration so they make recovery take much longer). One trick that does help prophylactically is the addition of a low dose of silicon to the water boiled to make tea or coffee, because boiling silicon helps increase its solubility and acidification, and tea and coffee are extremely high in polyphenols that feed commensal microbes which produce short chain fatty acids like acetate that then further acidifies the added silicon. It turns out that caffeine also helps treat migraines because caffeine is slightly antiparasitic, which is why giving up caffeine is so difficult for people who have migraines, because it is also actually helping to treat the problem. Using these strategies I have only had one migraine in the entire previous year (and that one only occurred because of experimentation I was doing in other research). I recently helped relieve a 54 year old woman of her decades long struggle with aura migraine that occurred several times every single week. Migraines are not a forgone condition we must endure, but are a result of poor dietary behaviors such as the avoidance of sugar and carbohydrate, a low polyphenol diet, and unchecked parasitism in industrialized societies which wrongly believe themselves free of parasite pressure. Resolving these factors can at least easily reduce the frequency and severity of migraines, and resolve them altogether with dedication and consistency. Excess silicon intake, however (especially when it fails to acidify) can result in a condition called silicosis which often presents as eczema or other skin problems, so don’t take excess either, and if those symptoms occur stop taking silicon until the symptoms resolve and don’t take such high doses and instead focus more on resolution of ammonia dysregulation.
